Let’s face it, people…there’s really no need for me to review this record. When I tell you that Head Wound City’s members spend most of their time with the The Locust (Justin Pearson, Gabe Serbian), Blood Brothers (Jordan Blilie, Cody Votolato), and Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Nick Zinner), you should have a pretty good idea of what this is going to sound like. No, it’s not an album of show-tunes (although, that would be very interesting…). Anyway, Head Wound City’s self-titled EP is comprised of 7 epileptic fits played in a neck-snapping 9 minutes and 42 seconds. It was written and recorded in a week’s time, and the spontaneity and looseness of the project is definitely apparent. Personally, I’d rather wait for their full-time bands to release something more substantial. However, if you’re the type of person who enjoys everything by the 30+ bands that Head Wound City’s are/were/will be a part of (and you think I’m exaggerating…), this EP won't be an exception. It’s grating punk-thrash played by some of the most talented musical mind-fuckers around today.
